Repair Corrupted Word Files With SecureRecovery®

SecureRecovery® for Word is an effective data recovery application designed to restore information from corrupted Microsoft Word files. Word is a text editor that is widely used by both individuals and enterprises. As a result, an increasing number of Word users experience corrupted .doc or .docx files.

SecureRecovery® for Word is designed to repair Word documents by scanning, analyzing the corrupted file, and exporting all available data. All restored data is then saved in a new .rtf document and becomes available for processing. Our tool repairs text, formatting, tables, bulleted lists, embedded graphics (images are placed at the end of the recovered document), charts and drawings, headers and footnotes, fields, URLs, OLE objects, and more.

This program only analyzes the damaged file. It does not change the original document. If the document is severley damaged, some data loss is inevitable.

SecureRecovery® for Word works with text files of various formats:

Fix and Recover Word Files

In order to repair Word files, it is necessary to first determine if your document is actually corrupt. A Word file is corrupt when its data has discrepancies that prevent the file from opening with Microsoft Word. If you got an error message when trying to open your file, the application crashed, or the file opened as a mix of random characters, then your Word file is most likely corrupted.

Not to worry! Fortunately, in most cases, only 50% of the file is corrupted. SecureRecovery® for Word was designed to repair and restore the remaining non-corrupted data.

Using SecureRecovery® for Word

  1. Backup the corrupted document(s) before proceeding with any recovery activities. Use reliable non-local media such as CD or network drive to store backups.
  2. Start SecureRecovery® for Word.
  3. Select the Recover. item in the File menu. A file selection dialog will open.
  4. Select the corrupted document and press "Recover" button.
  5. Wait until the file processing is completed.
  6. When prompted, save the recovered document, assigning it a new name. By default, Recovery for Word adds "Recovered" to the file name, i.e. "Corrupted document.DOC" will be saved as "Recovered Corrupted document.RTF"
